RCMP Cochrane – Auto Theft and Halloween Candy Tampering

Theft of Motor Vehicle from Dealership

Cochrane, Alberta – On November 1st 2016, the Cochrane RCMP responded to a complaint of a vehicle theft at a local car dealership.

At about 5 PM, a green 2 door Dodge Dakota with stolen Alberta License plate BVY0342 with two individuals in it attended a local dealership in the Riversong area and stole a Red 2106 Jeep Patriot high altitude from the lot.  The Jeep Patriot had been moved to be delivered to a customer when the complainant had left it momentarily.  When they returned it was gone.

The company reviewed their surveillance a found that a male wearing a brown Carhart jacket with hood, about 5’10”, heavy set wearing jeans had been the one who got into the Jeep and drove it off the lot.  They were unable to get a description of the driver of the Dakota.

If anyone sees these vehicle’s occupied, RCMP advises not to approach but to call 911 right away.  If anyone sees these vehicle’s unoccupied, please call the complaint line at 403-932-2211 and do not approach or disturb it.

Needles Found in Chocolate Bars

Cochrane, Alberta – On October 31st 2016, the Cochrane RCMP received a complaint that sewing needles had been found in two large size chocolate bars.

The complainant had been checking their children’s Halloween candy after taking them trick or treating when they found a sewing needle in a large O’Henry bar and another sewing needle in a large Kit Kat bar.  The complainant called the Cochrane RCMP to report this and advised that the children had been trick or treating on the west side of Glen Eagles.

The exact location the bars were received from is still under investigation and if there are any other incidents with tampered candy the RCMP are strongly encouraging it to be reported to help narrow down where this could have taken place at.
