RCMP Cochrane: Accident and Stolen Puppy

RCMP Cochrane – Single Vehicle Collision

On 2016-11-21 at 1000 hrs, Cochrane RCMP received a call of a single vehicle collision that had occurred the night before at approx 2100 hrs on a gravel road off Hwy 40 near Fallen Creek South Recreation Area.  The vehicle had left the roadway and rolled down a steep embankment.  The 42 year old female driver had a broken collarbone and 41 year old male passenger of the car had injuries (both from Didsbury) to his legs.  As a result of their injuries, lack of information about where they were or how far it was back to the roadway, and lack of cell phone service, they decided to stay in place overnight.
A high angle rope rescue was conducted by Cochrane Fire Dept with Ghost Fire Dept.  The passenger was transported to hospital by STARS and the driver was taken by ground ambulance, both with broken bones.  The police investigation is ongoing however alcohol does not appear to have been a factor.
