In the excitement of returning to school, children may forget basic road safety rules. Help keep them safe by following these safety tips:
- Do not drive while distracted – always be alert of your surroundings.
- Follow posted speed limits in school zones, 30 km/h from 7:30 AM – 5 PM on school days.
- Watch for school safety patrollers and stop as directed.
- Watch for kids between parked vehicles and on the sidewalk.
Use caution when approaching intersections or mid-block crosswalks. Parked or stopped vehicles may hide a pedestrian crossing the road.
Be very cautious when backing out of a parking stall or driveway.
