It’s Official! High River By-election

Michael Nychyk to be sworn in during annual organizational meeting October 24

HIGH RIVER, AB: Michael Nychyk has been elected to serve a one-year term as Councillor for the Town of High River after receiving 818 votes during the by-election held on October 17. The results are official as of Friday, October 21 at noon.

The remaining votes were distributed as follows:

Jamie Kinghorn – 311

Sandra Wiebe – 176

Terry Coleman – 152

Total voters: 1,457

The by-election was held in order to fill the seat of former Councillor Peter Loran, who resigned in August.

Nychyk will be sworn in at the annual organizational meeting at 3 p.m. on October 24 for a one-year term ending in October, 2017. The public is welcome to attend the meeting in Council Chambers located at 309B Macleod Trail S.W.

There will be a full municipal election held in October, 2017 as all current Councillors will reach the end of their four year term.
