Lake Louise Alberta – The Lake Louise RCMP would like to notify motorists that the Trans-Canada highway is currently impassable due to a rock slide which occurred late yesterday, West of Field, British Columbia. Anyone planning to travel between Alberta and British Columbia via Highway 1 is asked to choose an alternate route or make arrangements for accommodations as this closure is expected to remain in effect for 24-72 hours.
The Trans-Canada highway is currently closed to both East-bound and West-bound traffic while crews work to clear the rock slide. Those looking to travel to British Columbia can divert South on Highway 93 to Invermere then go North on Highway 95 to Golden.
An update will be provided by the RCMP when the highway re-opens.
