High River Traffic and “Tin Star” Filming Updates

Lane restrictions on west-bound 12 Ave at the HWY 2 overpass Oct. 25

HIGH RIVER, AB: Crews from Volker Stevin will be performing patch paving on the west-bound lanes of 12 Avenue S.E at the Highway 2 overpass on Tuesday, October 25.

The work will begin at 9 a.m. and will take approximately four hours to complete. One west-bound lane will be closed to complete paving and then crews will switch to the second west-bound lane.

Drivers are asked to use caution when travelling in the area and obey signage and flag persons who will be on site directing traffic.

Tin Star to film Ep. 8 in High River Oct. 24-26

HIGH RIVER, AB: Filming of the upcoming TV drama ‘Tin Star’ will resume in High River on Monday, October 24 and crews will be in town until Wednesday, October 26.

Production crews will be parking in lots located at 128/130 4 Avenue S.W. and 135 Macleod Trail S.W.

The majority of filming will take place in the evening hours and inside of 111 3 Avenue S.W. with some additional scenes being filmed in the alleyway behind the Foothills School Division Building and CIBC on Tuesday, October 25.

During one of these evening scenes on October 25, crews will also be lighting an automobile on fire on 3 Avenue S.W. All safety protocols will be in place and the local fire department has been informed. If time and schedule does not permit this scene to be filmed on Tuesday, it will be moved into the Wednesday schedule. There will be additional pyrotechnics during filming on the evening of Wednesday, October 26 in front of the ‘Randy’s Bar’ set on 3 Avenue S.W.

The above filming will require a road closure on Tuesday, October 25 from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. OR Wednesday, October 25 from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. on 3 Avenue S.W. from 1 Street S.W. to Macleod Trail S.W.

There will also be an alleyway closure which may require intermittent traffic control on Tuesday, October 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on 4 and 5 Avenues S.W., between 1 Street S.W. and Macleod Trail S.W. Crews will ensure access to parking for businesses affected in the area.

‘Tin Star’ is produced by Kudos Film and Television and was created by acclaimed British director and screenwriter Rowan Joffe. The show is described as ‘an epic tale of deception, betrayal, murder and revenge set against the backdrop of remote and beautiful Canadian mountain town.’ The series will star Tim Roth; who is known for his roles in ‘The Hateful Eight,’ ‘Pulp Fiction’ and ‘Reservoir Dogs’ and Christina Hendricks; known for her roles in ‘Mad Men’ and ‘Drive.’
