New online contest invites Albertans to submit their favourite mocktail.
More than 900 moms-to-be have joined the AGLC’s Dry9 movement by saying no to alcohol during pregnancy.
“Since the launch of Dry9 this past December, we are incredibly pleased with the response and interest from Albertans. Friends and family members of moms-to-be are also understanding the message that no amount of alcohol is proven safe while pregnant. We’re excited to see the latest Dry9 initiative continue the conversation.”
~Alain Maisonneuve, President and CEO, AGLC
Every day, challenges exist for those who make a choice to remain alcohol-free. One alternative for those wanting to enjoy some drinks while out with friends is mocktails. To promote the mocktail alternative, the AGLC is holding an online contest inviting Albertans to submit their favourite mocktail recipe via the AGLC’s Twitter or Facebook channel, apply online or by emailing email@example.com. One overall winner will have his or her recipe posted on the AGLC’s DrinkSense mocktail webpage and win a $100 VISA gift card.
The Dry9 website provides information, resources and support for those looking to be alcohol-free to assist them in ensuring a healthy pregnancy. Individuals who sign up to do a Dry9 receive:
- a free Dry9 t-shirt
- monthly tips on how to handle situations with alcohol when pregnant
- various facts on the different stages of baby development
- exclusive mocktail of the month recipes
- Dry9 videos to send to family, friends and spouses to get them to support you in your Dry9
- access to the interactive Dry9 website, which will soon feature an online community forum to encourage Dry9 participants to share tips, ideas and support.
Dry9 is part of DrinkSense, which represents the AGLC’s ongoing commitment to educate and raise awareness on responsible liquor consumption for adult Albertans. The AGLC also supports provincial efforts to reduce alcohol-related harm, with a goal of Albertans to make positive choices for themselves and consuming alcohol in a responsible way.
