High River, AB – As part of the social infrastructure investments announced in Budget 2016, the Crowsnest Historical Society has been approved for a contribution of up to $49,603.85 in fiscal year 2016-17 in support of the conservation of the Alberta Provincial Police Building located within Coleman National Historic Site of Canada.
“I’m thrilled to hear this great project was successful in their application. It is an important project to remember the tragic shooting of Constable Steven Lawson and the rich history of the Crowsnest Pass. I look forward to seeing the completion of the Alberta Provincial Police Barracks Building,” said John Barlow, MP for Foothills.
The proposed project aims to restore and rehabilitate the exterior of the Alberta Provincial Police building to its appearance during the 1920s period of occupation by the police service.
The Crowsnest Historical Society has been notified of the approval of their funding request. This offer of funding is conditional on the successful negotiation of the project details and the signature of a contribution agreement.
