Cochrane RCMP Continue to Investigate a Break and Enter

Cochrane, Alberta – On August 10th, 2016 the Cochrane RCMP responded to a complaint of a break and enter to a rural residence on Grand Valley Road.

The home owners called the RCMP after they had returned home from being away to find the house ransacked.  Statements obtained lead RCMP investigators to believe that the break and enter occurred sometime between August 8th and August 10th.  The homeowners found that approximately one million dollars in jewellery was stolen including some very unique jewellery that was made to look like the brand used by the ranch run by the homeowners.

The residence that was broken into is well off the road and very secure with only one way onto and out off of the property.  There were no signs of forced entry and the doors were still locked when the homeowners returned.  A window was found to have been opened in order to gain access but again there was no sign it was forced open.  The RCMP’S Forensic Identification Services assisted in the investigation which is still ongoing.

The RCMP is reaching out to the public for assistance with this investigation.  If you have any information on this investigation or any other incident, please call the Cochrane RCMP at 403-851-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
