CFIB statement on the Passing of former Premier Jim Prentice

Calgary, October 14, 2016 – It is with sadness that my colleagues and I learned today of the passing of Alberta’s former Premier Jim Prentice.

Jim Prentice was a kind and generous person that dedicated his life to public service.  Having served as Alberta’s Premier, he was a strong supporter of the small business community and thoughtful and passionate about public policy.  He leaves behind an impressive record in supporting entrepreneurs, having brought in policies like Alberta’s Small Business Strategy.  His contributions to his country as a federal cabinet minister and Member of Parliament will not be forgotten.

On behalf of the members, staff and Board of the Canadian Federation of Independent Business, I want to express our sincere condolences to Jim Prentice’s family on his passing.  Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Karen and his three daughters, as well as the other families who lost loved ones in this tragic accident.
