Superintendent Leadership Quality Standard is Focus of CASS / Alberta Education Conference
(EDMONTON) – The 2018 Annual Learning Conference hosted by the College of Alberta School Superintendents (CASS) and Alberta Education will be held at the Chateau Lacombe on March 21 – 23, 2018.
The focus of the Conference will be implementing the Superintendent Leadership Quality Standard, formalized by Ministerial Order this past February.
Internationally renowned researcher Dr. Michael Fullan will be the keynote speaker for the opening of the conference on March 21. System leadership teams from public, separate, Francophone, Charter and First Nations school authorities will have opportunity to develop plans for implementing the Standard, with support from Dr. Fullan, Dr. Santiago Rincón-Gallardo and Joanne Quinn.
Dr. Rincón-Gallardo is the Chief Research Officer for Dr. Fullan’s international education consulting team.
Joanne Quinn co-authored Coherence: The Right Drivers in Action for Schools, Districts and Systems with Dr. Fullan.
As in past years, CASS will honour its retirees at the Annual Retirement Banquet on March 22 at 6.00 pm. Sixteen retirees will be acknowledged for their service, totaling nearly 500 years, to students, colleagues and community.
The Program for the Conference, available on the CASS website https://cassalberta.ca/conferences-workshops/cass-alberta-education-annual-learning-conference-2/ shows a series of plenary presentations on March 23. Presentation topics include curriculum, mental health, capital planning, transportation, technology, First Nations, Métis & Inuit Education, and Leadership Development.
Over 300 delegates including CASS members, Alberta Education staff, school leaders and representatives of education partners in Alberta and across Canada will attend the Annual Learning Conference.
