I had the opportunity to attend a Blessing of the Animals in High River last month and it was a wonderful experience. I had always wanted to attend one and I’m so glad I made it to this one.
Rev. Susan Lukey, of the High River United Church, presided over the blessings in the parking lot in front of the Heaven Can Wait adoption Centre in High River. She had some beautiful words and prayers for the animals in attendance, their caregivers, the animals in the shelter and those in jeopardy world-wide. It was very touching.
A lovely young lady from the High River United Church presented Heaven Can Wait with donations collected from the members of the church!
My husband and I have had the pleasure of fostering a small, older dog for Heaven Can Wait and so I took Jake with me to be blessed as he recovered from surgery. After the blessings we headed inside to visit with the other attendees and the cats awaiting adoption.
I captured a couple of photos during the event but you can see more on Heaven Can Wait’s facebook page.
