Volunteer Corner

Rowan House is always on the lookout for people able and willing to donate their time to the shelter. The opportunities are endless but here are a few ideas of what we’re currently looking for:

• Weekly grocery shoppers (2 or 3 people to rotate weeks)

• Donation Coordinator – someone willing to be the contact person to pick up and drop off donations

• Pet fosters – leaving a pet behind can prevent women from leaving a bad situation

• Yard work – mowing/shoveling etc.

• Cleaners – assist with household cleaning

• Drivers – help women get to appointments in the community, look for housing, etc.

• Yoga/Meditation instructors

• Childcare for Healthy Relationships Group / Weekend Respite program

• Homework Club – assist children with their homework weekday evenings

• Resource room – help with organizing and stocking

• Sewers to make various items

• Activity coordinator – help organize game nights/outings etc. for women

We’re also looking to start a Holiday Cheer Program and we’re looking for a strong group of people to come up with ideas and make them a reality – ie: bakers, cooks, decorators etc.
